The new Samsung Galaxy Ace boast a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen; very impressive for a budget handset. It is made from Samsung’s strengthened Gorilla glass which helps prevent scratches and cracks. It supports multi-touch input, has an accelerometer and comes pre-loaded with the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface.

The Samsung Galaxy S has a 4-inch AMOLED display, along with Gorilla glass, an accelerometer, multi-touch support and the TouchWiz 3.0 UI.

• Camera
For a budget handset, the Samsung Galaxy Ace’s camera has excellent specifications. It has a 5-megapixel sensor, auto focus, LED flash, supports video calling and captures QVGA video.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S has an extremely similar camera to the Ace, it is able to capture 720p video, but it doesn’t have an LED flash.

• Operating System
Out of the box, the Galaxy S runs Android 2.1 and the Galaxy Ace runs Android 2.2. However, both handsets can be upgraded to the latest version of Android, 2.3 Gingerbread. Gingerbread has many improvements over previous versions of Android, offering a noticeably smoother experience, an improved touch keyboard and faster multitasking. It also improves system performance, which could increase the battery life of both devices.
