Google held an official event yesterday at the Computer History Museum, presenting the public and press its new search functions and technologies about the search in real time and that based on images. We are impressed about Google Goggles, and you can see a video about it, below:
Goggles is a visual search application, available on Android terminals and allows searching objects using images instead of words. The images are obtained by the camera phone, which will serve as “eye” to the user connecting to the database and then providing all possible information about the object photographed.
Currently, Goggles can find monuments, works of art and products with a technology called “computer vision”. This assign each object a “digital signature”, then compared with the signatures of the Google databases. Search engine giant introduced and an upgrade of service or main, which will show not only links but also live updates on Twitter, FriendFeed and other such popular sites, but the news headlines on blogs and of online publications.
Innovation called “search in real time”, allows everybody to discover what happens now, even with the help of Twitter. There will be a section of “hot topics” in Google Trends to show the most popular topics on the web published by users in real time.
