Pepsi introduces the Social Vending machine

Pepsi connects to social media via Social Vending machine, a device through which you can send beverage gifts (from Pepsi, obviously) to friends.

Equipped with touch-screen interface, the Social Vending machine allows you to buy, gift or redeem a drink, or connect to the Pepsi Refresh Project. By choosing the “gift” option, you are required to choose a drink and input your friend’s phone number, along with an optional video message. They will receive your message with an attached code which permits them to “redeem the gift” at another Social Vending device. If you feel particularly charitable one day, you can also send a drink to a stranger, through the “random acts of refreshment” feature (catchy name).

Unfortunately, the machine doesn’t have a Facebook or Twitter feature, making it difficult for people to physically move to the Social Vending “just” to send a soda gift to a friend (people are generally not willing to make that much sacrifice for someone else’s thirst) but Pepsi announced they are on the works. Also, the touch screen interface isn’t very hygienic when you’re sharing it with thousands of people. But still, it’s a good move from Pepsi to climb on the social networks (literally).

Most of us spend time on social networks, like Facebook or Twitter. While our maturity stop us (or a part of us) from crossing a line, teens are in danger of falling into a depression.

Teens spend so much time online that they lose all contact with reality. Do you need proof on that? Have you noticed they don’t meet their friends for coffee? They just… “hang out” online. They share their most personal experiences with the entire world, hoping that they will gain some sort of trusted community to rely on. And when something fails, all hell breaks loose.

For example, there have been plenty of couples that have broken up due to some “event” that took place on Facebook: an inappropriate picture, a peculiar “added friend”, a suspicious “like”. Kids get competitive and jealous even when they read the bigger number of friends at someone else, or the successes others have. Unfortunately, teens read too much into this and fall in despair.

The online environment and social networking present a real risk of negatively influencing our children. The best thing we can do is take a stand and make sure they lead a normal life – spend more time outdoor, practice sports, be part of clubs.

12 Happy Years for Google

The American company Google is celebrating 12 years since it have made easier the search on Internet and it is offering a big and nice cake.

The company was registered on September 4, 1998, the first technical specification was on September 20, 1998, but Google like to celebrate on September 27 (maybe their lucky number).

This year, Google is celebrating with a cake designed by the American painter Wayne Thiebaud.

Now we have to wait for more surprises and to wish Google: Many more years!

Nokia and Yahoo! Doing Great Business

Nokia şi Yahoo! Are doing a great partnership under the name Project Nike, that means that some of Nokia’s offers would be under Yahoo! Brand and some Yahoo! Offers would be under Nokia’s brand.
So, the Nokia Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat would use Yahoo! Technologies with Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger application.
From now on, all Nokia phones will have Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger pre-installed and Yahoo! Maps would be named Yahoo! Maps powered by Ovi. I can wait to test Yahoo! Application on Nokia phones.

After many months of thinking, Google decided to leave China. We all know that the Google Search Engine censored searches from China, but now it decided to stop its working there, so, the Chinese that wants to search on Google will be redirected to Hong Kong server.

Google announced its decision to renounce the censure and to redirect its searching trough Google.com.hk, because of latest hackings (at the beginning of 2010), and for those the Chinese Government was accused.
Google declared that those attacks were made by the Government to limit the freedom of expressing for Chinese people, including blocking social blogs, like: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and many more.

After AVATAR, James Cameron is preparing for 3D TITANIC

Rightly, James Cameron is confident that can be made much money from 3D cinema. Avatar was just the beginning. Canadian director and producer of 3D films will continue with a remake. We don’t speak about any movie; we speak about the Titanic from 1997.

Why James Cameron chose to continue mishap 3D Titanic instead of a new movie, he is the only one that can tell. Probably he didn’t found a better idea, for a film that has a greater impact in 3D. Maybe tears will flow again.

Moreover, 3D remake of Titanic related to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the tragedy. Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, Titanic 3D film will be released in 2012.

It’s hard to believe that 3D Titanic will enjoy the same success as Avatar, but has a good chance to exceed the revenue taken by the movie Titanic in 1997.

Now I do not know what will be more interesting in 3D mode: hot scenes between the lovers or tragic sinking of the ship? I can’t wait to see that.

BBC said that the Internet, as entity will be one of 237 individuals and organizations nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize this year.

Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided on a shortlist of nominees on March 9, but the list was not made public.

Even so, those who made the appointments are free to say who had proposed, and according to the BBC, winner of 2003 Nobel Peace Prize, Shirin Ebadi and Nicholas Negroponte, OLPC Foundation founder (One Laptop per Child), proposed Internet .

The Internet has been proposed for the prize for his role in promoting “dialogue, debate and consensus”.

But we find only on October 9 when the Nobel Peace Prize (and a reward of 1.4 million dollars) will be granted Internet.

Google and Facebook have been sued by a data company from New York for infringement of a patent that allows users to participate in social networks on mobile phones.

Wireless Ink Corp. has Winksite site service and told that both Facebook and Google Mobile Buzz use a patent issued in October 2009. In a complaint submitted to a court in Manhattan, company wants to get compensation and a court order preventing use of the services offered by the two companies charged.

The patent relates to arrangements to provide content to mobile phones through Facebook and Buzz said Jeremy Pitcock, a lawyer for Wireless Ink. Application for the patent was initiated in 2004; Google and Facebook therefore knew about this, added the lawyer, according to businessweek.com.

Andrew Pederson, spokesman for Google, said Google is currently investigating the complaint and has no comment on that process.

Yahoo turns to mobile web share

Yahoo is changing its approach to the mobile segment of the web, putting mobile division, in reorganization.

The move is due to Management’s Carol Bartz, who decided to make some changes to Yahoo to make the brand competitive again.

Official seems to understand the importance of mobile web today, especially in competition with Google, which has won every time against Yahoo in recent years.

It will be difficult from Yahoo to compete with the giant from Mountain View, which brings huge benefits, as Android, buzz for mobile, an impressive financing and more.

Google said recently that the desktop will become irrelevant in about 3 years, the advances in mobile web, a prediction that does not sound too good for Yahoo, given the fact that search engine was recently replaced by rival as standard option to T-Mobile terminals.
